The Wiener Neustadt Band Has Built Its Catalogue One Self-Released Cut at a Time

In My Head came out on 17 September 2026. It is the newest cut from Bite To Break, a heavy band from Wiener Neustadt in Austria, and it arrived as the lead track of a two-track release alongside the earlier song In Between. The band wrote the music and the lyrics themselves and put the record out on their own.

Bite To Break’s In My Head is in the playlist below, and the band’s full run of coverage sits on the Bite To Break profile. The single came to this desk through PopHits.Co Music Charts. That programme verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles. Give it a listen, then keep reading for where the band goes next.

Bite To Break Started in 2023 and Have Released Every Song Themselves, One Step at a Time

The band formed in 2023. They describe their sound in one line: slam, hardcore and death metal added together. On record that means drums built for impact, vocals pushed to their limit and riffs written for the pit. The band’s own shorthand for the mix is grindkoa, a word they use on their pages in place of a genre tag.

The run so far has been patient. In Between came first, with an official lyric video on YouTube in July 2026. That summer the band also played live, including an opening slot on an August bill. Then, in mid-September, In My Head joined In Between on a two-track release. A guitar playthrough of the new song followed on 28 September.

That order matters for a young band. Each step gave listeners something to hold before the next one landed. First came a lyric video, then a new cut, then a closer look at how the guitar part is played. Nothing was rushed, and nothing was wasted.

For listeners placing the sound, two names help. Fans of Despised Icon, the Montreal band that built its records on slam breakdowns and hardcore energy, will recognise the mix of weight and speed. Meanwhile, listeners who know Whitechapel, the Knoxville deathcore band, will hear the same taste for slow, heavy breakdowns.

In My Head Turns a Narrator Who Cannot Move or Speak Into Three and a Half Minutes of Slam

The song runs three minutes and 33 seconds. Its subject is a mind that has turned against its owner. The first verse counts the days while waiting for something to haunt the narrator, with “the shadows closing in”. Then the thoughts start “running circles”, and the danger “breaks its chains”.

The verse ends on three questions: “Can’t anyone see me? / Can’t anyone hear me? / Or is it all just in my head?” So the title arrives inside a question, not a statement. The listener has to decide whether the threat is real.

The pre-chorus answers with the body. “No words leave my lips / No movement at all / My body won’t listen / I’m trapped / Inside my thoughts.” It reads like a description of being frozen in place, fully awake and unable to act. Those five short lines are the clearest writing on the record.

The chorus turns the screw. “I scream for help / But no one knows.” In a genre where the lead vocal is often a scream, that line carries a sharp irony. The scream is the one sound the narrator makes, and it still reaches nobody.

The second verse brings no relief. The shadows fade, but the narrator’s sanity goes with them, and “the weight remains”. Finally, after two more choruses, the song closes on the same three questions it asked at the start. So the record ends where the narrator began, still unsure and still unheard.

From a Two-Track Single to Death Bringer and a Vienna Show at Escape Metalcorner in October

The next step has already landed. On 15 October 2026 a three-track version of the release arrived, with a new song, Death Bringer, at the front. The set now runs Death Bringer, In My Head and In Between. A day later the band announced it as out now.

Live dates are part of the plan too. Bite To Break play Escape Metalcorner in Vienna on 25 October 2026. That club date moves the band from their home region into the capital’s metal scene. For a band whose records are built for the pit, the stage is where the next chapter gets tested.

The pattern is clear by now. One cut at a time, the band adds songs, videos and shows, and each release carries the one before it. As a result, a listener who starts with In My Head today can hear three songs in a row and see exactly where the band has been heading.

From the IndieMusic.News Curator Team: “Listen for the pre-chorus. Five short lines describe a body that will not move, and the song gives them room before the chorus breaks the silence. That restraint is what makes the heavy parts land.”

For listeners who want their heavy music direct, self-released and written with a clear subject, In My Head is a strong place to start.
